Lifelong Learning

Exploration and discovery are a vital part of living well and play a key role in healthy aging. In fact, studies show that people who stay stimulated intellectually throughout life are typically happier and healthier. Residents of Fort Scott Presbyterian Village routinely participate in a variety of activities that keep them actively engaged in the community and the world as part of our program of lifelong learning.

  • We host monthly programs on a wide range of topics presented by representatives of the local college, business owners, government officials and others.
  • Residents may take advantage of college classes offered free by Fort Scott Community College.
  • We hold watercolor art class every other month.

Just Ask

Besides taking classes and participating in informational programs, our residents enjoy numerous opportunities to pursue their interests in our well-stocked rotating library. The library features an abundance of printed and digital resources including Internet access and a ClearView 300 reading machine for residents with impaired vision.

Our community room sports a large flat-panel video screen for presentations and resident entertainment.

Our Just Ask Lifelong Learning series offers topics of interest to the broader community as well as our residents. Just Ask topics have included wills, balance and falls, winter/summer safety, recognizing the warning signs Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia and recognizing the signs of heart attack and stroke.
