Here’s your chance to be a square

Resident Barbara Stuart has been busy sewing quilt squares that can be sold to donors. Each square has an inspirational word or phrase written in permanent marker, such as “love thy neighbor,” “pray,” “laugh,” and many others.

Earline Foster, fellow resident and quilt maker, has figured out that it will take 195 squares to complete a queen-sized quilt. Donors can choose the pre-made square you want, or request a special word or saying. Once the squares are all sold, Earline and fellow sewers at Fort Scott Presbyterian Village —possibly with off-site help from some of you — will finish the quilt. The finished quilt will be on display at Presbyterian Village to honor all those who purchased a square and those who helped make this piece of art.

In the fall or winter months, the quilt will be raffled off to become a "special covering" in the winner's home. All proceeds will be used for Fort Scott Presbyterian Village programs and services that improve the lives of our seniors and further our mission. Watch for more information about how each of you can purchase a quilt square to help bring this project to fruition. If you have questions or ideas of ways you can help, please contact Ginger at 620-223-5550 or email gnance@pmma.org. Thank you in advance for helping repair sewing machines revived during this time and for being so supportive of our seniors.
