Revamped spaces will allow for comfortable outdoor visits

The most effective method to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is to visit with seniors outdoors in well-ventilated spaces, according to the Kansas Department of Health & Environment and the CDC. This still remains the recommendation, even after vaccination.

To create a more comfortable outdoor visiting environment at Fort Scott Presbyterian Village, cushions and colorful plant life will be added to the two outdoor visitor spaces in the front of the building. This will be especially nice to have access to on the weekends for you and your loved ones.

Residents can meet you outside on the weekends to either go on an outing with you, or you can simply sit and relax in the outdoor spaces provided. During your visit, please continue to keep your nose and mouth covered, and maintain the recommended social distancing. Hand sanitizer is provided in the space as well.

Electricity is being installed out back to accommodate a new retractable, motorized awning that will be installed on the patio that overlooks the pond.  The oversized awning will allow for greater shade and comfort.

SPARK grant funds enabled Presbyterian Village to purchase the awning as part of our reopening plan during the pandemic. This is an absolutely beautiful space and we can’t wait to share it with our visitors!

Minnie Lou Allen & Barbara Stuart are enjoying our revamped outdoor visiting areas.
